The reality is simple - the country gets the media industry it deserves.
Gutter press
The biggest problem with the press is the public they serve these days. This is largely the same public that thinks X-Factor, BGT, Strictly, and Big Brother are quality broadcasting. They are the same sheep who read OK and Hello as burning news, and make the Sun and the Mirror - who simply respond to market realities - the most popular papers in the UK. Murdoch and his ilk would not have this power at their fingertips if they had not been given it. If you don't want a gutter press, don't BUY a gutter press. Weep for the future, for it is they who decide it.
