Dateline: Waterloo station, Jubilee Line concourse - 20:12
Well THAT was disconcerting! Escalator up from the Jubilee just stopped dead under my feet with a loud clunk just as I was stepping off. It was a seriously loud bang, directly underfoot, and the last step shook under me as I stepped off. In truth, of course it had nothing to do with me. It was sheer coincidence that I happened to be the one stepping off at the time. But still decidedly unnerving.
I did not look back to see if anything lower down had snagged. I just got out of the way so the staff could usher everyone off and get on with the job of finding out what had happened, and kept right on walking. I feel sorry for the people who were actually stuck on it when it stopped, though. I hope none of them was disabled.
